A new class action lawsuit questions whether Anthropic broke the law by misleading power users

Anthropic says power users are key to its business - it's prioritized them even when it means cutting off other popular applications, like OpenClaw. But some of these same customers say Anthropic misled them into believing they'd get more out of a top-tier pricing subscription than they did. In an expanded class action lawsuit filed [โ€ฆ]

Male beauty ratings reveal lower averages but an exceptional upper tier

Women's faces are rated as more attractive than men's across cultures, age groups and sexual orientations. This effect, known as the "Gender Attractiveness Gap" (GAP), was recently demonstrated in a large-scale study led by the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics (MPIEA) in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. A new article in Current Opinion in Psychology takes a closer look at the underlying data.

Plants' response to rising COโ‚‚ could put the brakes on dryland expansion

Drylands are defined as regions where rainfall is low relative to the atmosphere's ability to draw water from soil and plants. Expanding boundaries of these regions are frequent concerns in climate change considerations. While they can support large populations and ecosystems, dryland expansion can worsen water scarcity, land degradation and desertification.

Heat waves inhibit antibiotic resistance in soils, but at a price

Extreme heat waves disrupt life in soil. Soil bacteria that produce and resist antibiotics switch into survival mode, temporarily reducing the number of resistance genes. At the same time, heat and drought are causing significant damage to soils and ecosystems, especially in cold, wet regions such as the Netherlands. This is evident from a large-scale European study by soil ecologist Franciska de Vries (University of Amsterdam) and colleagues. The findings are published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Superbubble in the Large Magellanic Cloud

NASAโ€™s Hubble Space Telescope captures a photogenic nebula, N44, in the Large Magellanic Cloud in this Sept. 3, 2026, image. N44 is dominated by two features: a vast central void and a shell of dense, dusty gas. The central void is a โ€˜superbubbleโ€™ spanning roughly 210 by 140 light-years across. The glittering stars at the [โ€ฆ]
